Your Space to Create

The Studios at Burnt Canoe provide a private workspace for artists and creatives, small businesses, remote workers, hobbyists and more. Our studios are a place to allow yourself to flourish creatively, to have a dedicated space to focus on work, and to network with other professionals. Burnt Canoe Studio is a community of makers, thinkers, dreamers and doers.

Burnt Canoe Banks Street offers private studios for artists, makers, designers, and small creative businesses in the heart of Mid-City New Orleans. Each studio has its own character, with features that may include abundant natural light, wood floors, high ceilings, and architectural details from the building’s past.

Our studios are intended to be more than rooms for rent. Members become part of an active creative community while maintaining a private, secure space where they can work, create, meet with clients, and grow their practice or business.

What’s Included

Shared Amenities

Members have access to large work sinks, a communal kitchenette, restrooms with a shower, laundry facilities, indoor common areas, and an outdoor courtyard with seating. These shared resources make it easier to work with a variety of materials without having to fit every function inside your individual studio.

The building is located on a quiet, low-traffic, dead-end section of Banks Street with ample street parking. A driveway is available for convenient loading and unloading of artwork, materials, furniture, and equipment.

A Space That Works for You

We understand that different mediums and businesses have different requirements. Our studios begin as flexible spaces that members can make their own. If you need additional electrical access, storage, work surfaces, ventilation, or other improvements, we’re happy to discuss reasonable build-to-suit options.

Members may furnish and arrange their studios to suit their work, creating anything from a traditional artist’s studio to a design office, production space, showroom, or small-business workspace.

Additional Member Services

Through our in-house wood shop, Banks Street members receive discounted custom framing, laser cutting, and laser engraving services.
