The studios at Burnt Canoe provide private, dedicated workspace for artists, makers, small creative businesses, remote workers, and others who need a place of their own to work.

Each studio gives tenants a home base within the larger Burnt Canoe environment: a place to focus, make, build, meet with collaborators, and work alongside other creative people without giving up the privacy of their own space.

Great work can happen anywhere. We just believe artists and creative people deserve a place that gives something back.

Burnt Canoe Banks Street offers private studios for artists, makers, designers, and small creative businesses in Mid-City New Orleans. Each studio has its own character, with features that may include abundant natural light, wood floors, high ceilings, and architectural details from the building’s past.

The studio is your own space, but it is only one part of what comes with working at Burnt Canoe. Banks Street gives tenants a private, secure place to work within a larger creative environment with shared spaces, useful infrastructure, and other people making and building things around them.

Studio rent includes:

  • High-speed fiber internet

  • Secure 24/7 coded building access

  • A locking private studio

  • Access to shared spaces and amenities

Shared Spaces

Members have access to large work sinks, a communal kitchenette, restrooms with a shower, laundry facilities, indoor common areas, and an outdoor courtyard with seating.

These shared spaces give tenants room and resources beyond the walls of their individual studios, so every function does not have to fit inside their private workspace.

Banks Street is located on a quiet, dead-end section of the street with ample street parking. A driveway is available for loading and unloading artwork, materials, furniture, and equipment.

A Space That Works for You

Different kinds of work require different setups. Our studios are flexible spaces that members can furnish and arrange around the way they actually work.

Depending on the studio and the proposed use, we can also discuss reasonable modifications or build-to-suit options for specific workspace needs.

Studios can work as traditional artist studios, design offices, production spaces, showrooms, or small-business workspaces.

Additional Member Services

Through our in-house wood shop, Banks Street members receive discounted custom framing, laser cutting, and laser engraving services.

Burnt Canoe Studio is centrally located in Mid-City just off either the North Carrollton Avenue exit or the Metairie Rd/Canal St exit on I-10. It is within a short distance of both streetcar and bus lines, a number of restaurants and bars, grocery stores, convenience stores, City Park, and Bayou St. John.
