BURNT CANOE STUDIO

739 S CLARK ST

Burnt Canoe Studio at South Clark Street is our planned second creative campus, offering private studios and creative offices for artists, designers, independent professionals, and small businesses. The campus will bring together inspiring workspaces, shared resources, meeting and exhibition spaces, and a supportive community designed to help people focus, connect, and grow.

Private Studios, Offices, and Suites

The South Clark Street campus is planned to include approximately 35 private studios and creative offices in a range of sizes and configurations. Most spaces are designed for individual artists, entrepreneurs, independent professionals, and small organizations. A limited number of larger suites are suited for small businesses, nonprofit organizations, creative companies, and teams that need more room to work together.

Members will have access to shared work areas, professional resources, common spaces, WiFi, secure access, on site parking, and community programming. Utilities and access to shared campus amenities will be included with studio membership. Conference rooms, classes, and workshops will be available to members at discounted rates and to the public by reservation or registration.

Studio pricing is expected to begin around $450 per month and will vary based on size, location, configuration, and included features. Final availability, pricing, and layouts may change as the campus is completed.

WHY BURNT CANOE?

The name Burnt Canoe comes from an actual dugout canoe, found charred and weathered in the Louisiana swamps by our co-founder Otway’s grandfather in the 1950s. He brought the canoe’s two halves back to the family cabin, where they’ve stood ever since, a quiet testament to resilience and history.

That cabin became a sanctuary for Otway and Hannah, a place where stories were told, imagination thrived, and possibilities were endless. It was there that their shared dream began to take shape.

But the symbolism of the Burnt Canoe reaches deeper. Throughout history, figures like Julius Caesar and Sun Tzu ordered their troops to “burn the boats” upon landing on enemy shores, eliminating any option for retreat. This act forced them to move forward with unwavering commitment.

This philosophy resonates with us. At Burnt Canoe Studio, we have chosen to pursue our dream with everything we have. We have burned our canoe, and there is only one path: forward. Across our campuses, we aim to create inspiring spaces, useful resources, and genuine community for artists, creatives, entrepreneurs, independent professionals, small businesses, and nonprofit organizations building something of their own. Onward.
